You have been hit by another vehicle (or object for that matter) or have a claim that is covered by your uninsured motorist coverage. You have the right to recover your “loss in value due to your property damage.” What is Diminished Value? The difference between the undamaged vehicle and the damaged one is the Diminished Value – this is a recoverable loss under the laws of most states: The basic concept of a tort is that the negligence of one or more individuals has lead to loss or damages of another. It is a general rule that the law of torts attempts primarily to restore the injured party to as good a position as he held prior to the tort. If you are not the at-fault driver in an auto accident, you may be able to collect for the loss in value of your property after it is repaired. While many insurance policies have written “Diminished Value” out of the policy (with no reduction in your premiums, mind you) for collision and comprehensive coverage, you are still entitled to collect “DV” from the at-fault driver. Obtain a “Diminished Value” appraisal once repairs are complete and submit a claim to the at-fault driver’s insurance company for payment. We provide the appraisal of the loss and the basis for you to recover from the at-fault party or their insurance carrier.

    Total Loss Appraisals:

When your vehicle is declared a total loss by your insurance company or the at-fault driver’s insurance company, we are seeing insurance companies make incredibly low offers. Many people don’t know that can dispute those offers and get much more for their settlement than what the insurance company is initially offering.

    Post-Repair Inspections:

For more information, see our dedicated page on post-repair inspections.

We offer inspection services for vehicles that have been repaired after a collision. We have found that almost all repaired vehicles have some amount of deficiency, especially when repaired by an insurance company’s “preferred shop.” We have seen vehicles repaired so poorly that upon our inspection and disclosure to our customer, their insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss. If your vehicle has been in a collision and you have concerns about the quality of its repair, give us a call. We will provide a free limited exterior visual inspection and review of your paperwork to determine if a greater inspection is necessary.
